This tiny, mountainous country by the Mediterranean Sea is full of natural beauty. For those of you needing a geography refresher: it’s situated in the Middle East and borders Syria and Israel. Lebanon has endured a number of invasions and occupations which is why it is so culturally and religiously diverse today.
This trip was my second visit to my husband’s country. Elie was born and raised in Beirut and his parents are from Sirjbal, a nearby agricultural village in the mountains. A few years ago, they rebuilt the family home there, which had been heavily damaged by the war. Now my father-in-law is the mayor of Sirjbal and the family spends weekends there meeting with members of the community and entertaining guests with card games, hookah, and delicious food. During the week, they live in Beirut. Each time we visit, we enjoy the best of both country and city life. Our visit was the perfect mix of exploration and leisure. Here are some of my favorite images from our trip.
